Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has revealed what manager Arsene Wenger told him before going on as a substitute and scoring the equaliser at Old Trafford.
The Frenchman came on for Mohamed Elneny in the 73rd minute with the visitors trailing by a goal after Juan Mata gave Manchester United the lead.
Giroud beat everyone to head home Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s cross with a minute of normal time left, to send Wenger’s men back to London with a point.
When asked what his instructions were, he told the club website: “Just to give the maximum. Try to bring your small cog to the big machine. Defend from set-pieces and try to run and make my teammates play.
“I try to give solutions to my teammates because at the end of the game we were a bit tired, so just to try to bring something different, in the air especially as well.
“We are very happy with this draw and this point and now we want to focus on the Champions League game on Wednesday.”
Paris Saint-Germain head to the Emirates with both teams keen to win the group and hopefully get an easier tie in the knock-out stage of the competition.
Giroud will be hoping to earn a place in the starting XI when the Gunners take on Bournemouth in the Premier League before they hosting Southampton in the quarter-final of the EFL Cup.
Wenger’s side then start December with another London derby at West Ham’s new London stadium.
