Trainer Nick Gifford says Glen Rocco will not run again this season due to injury problems. The eight-year-old had been on the sidelines since February after running in the 888Sport Handicap Chase at Kempton. However, the ground proved to be too fast for him and he suffered a tendon injury. He finished sixth out of ten despite being the 4/1 joint-favourite, with the three-mile race the last time he was in action. Gifford has confirmed a recurrence of that injury means he will not run again this season. He said: “He won’t be out until this time next year. He’s just tweaked an old tendon injury. That quick ground at Kempton took its toll on him. “He’s out in the field – hopefully he’ll be back next season.” Despite fitness issues, Gifford is confident Glen Rocco will one day have a tilt at the Grand National. “It’s only a slight one – but he’ll have all the time in the world and hopefully we’ll get him back for a crack at the National the year after,” he added.
