Antoine Griezmann admits he is finding it tough adapting to Barcelona’s playing style but is determined to be a success at the Nou Camp. The 28-year-old had long been linked with a switch from Atletico Madrid to Barca and the big-money move finally went though last summer.
The France international scored 133 goals from 257 appearances in all competitions for the capital outfit but has yet to set the world alight with the La Liga champions.
He has netted four times in 15 outings, with coach Ernesto Valverde pushing the former Real Sociedad man out wide up front to form an attacking triumvirate with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.
He confessed that playing in an unfamiliar role with his new club has not been easy but he always felt it was going to be tricky once the transfer had been completed. “It is certain that playing in the centre is better for me. I have my bearings. I’ve been managing this position for years and years,” he told RMC Sport. ” have a new club. I have to adapt. I am still learning. I knew on arrival that it was going to be hard, I knew it very well.”
Barca have coped well without the forward firing on all cylinders and sit top of the Spanish top-flight standings – level on 25 points with Real Madrid – but have relied heavily on the brilliance of Messi.
The Argentina striker has netted nine times in 11 outings, with eight in seven league games.
