Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann has revealed that there is a 60 per cent chance that he will join Manchester United this summer with two weeks to decide his future.
The France international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford and Griezmann has spoken about the possible transfer for the first time.
Griezmann discussed his future on France’s Quotidien, with the conversation unfolding as follows.
“Where will Antoine Griezmann be next season?” Asked the interviewer.
To which Griezmann replied: “Very good question, I think it will be decided within the next two weeks. [Pause]
“Come on, that’s a really good answer!”
“If I say Manchester United, like where David Beckham went, what do you say?”
“Possible, possible”
“Out of ten? Ten is done deal”
“Ten is done deal? I’ll say six”
“Really? You realise what you’re saying.”
“Yes”
“A six out of ten chance you’re going to United, it’s the first time you say this”
“Yes”
“OK then…”
Griezmann’s brother Theo, who is thought to support Manchester United, reacted with delight to his sibling’s comments.
It is easy to see why United want to sign Griezmann. Having made a major impact for France at Euro 2016 last summer, he has proceeded to enjoy another impressive campaign with Atletico, scoring 16 goals in La Liga and creating 57 chances for his team- mates.
In addition the 26-year-old has kept the ball well, completing 78% of the passes that he has attempted.
United spent heavily in last summer’s transfer window, bringing in high-profile players such as Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and it is widely expected that Jose Mourinho will be very active once again as he looks to improve the club’s squad further.
