Guardiola Addresses De Bruyne’s Man City Future With Emphatic Update

Pep Guardiola is certain Kevin De Bruyne won’t depart Manchester City amid rumors stating he has agreed a deal to ply his trade in Saudi Arabia.

As De Bruyne approaches the last year of his current City deal, Saudi Pro League outfit, Al-Ittihad have been after him. Over the weekend, there were reports in Italy claiming that De Bruyne had reached an agreement with Al-Ittihad. However, it has subsequently been established that these reports were inaccurate.

Still, there are reasonable concerns regarding the Belgian’s future given that he is currently 33 years old, nearing the end of his career, and his contract with City.

Since joining City in 2015, the Belgium international has won in six Premier League titles, five Carabao Cups, and two FA Cups. According to Guardiola, there will be more victories in the future.

According to The Mirror, before City’s first preseason match against Celtic in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Guardiola spoke to reporters.

“Kevin isn’t leaving.” City goalkeeper Ederson has also been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, but Guardiola appears unconcerned.

“If someone leaves, we’re going to talk about that,” he added. “Of course, until the last day, we have chances [to make transfers].

“I don’t rule out the option to have new players but I think there is an 85/90 per cent chance we will have the same squad.

“I feel comfortable, because the quality of human beings we have in the squad is difficult to be replaced, and the quality is there.

“But we’ll see, I don’t know in the last moment if someone comes for some players and they leave, we’re going to decide.”
