Guardiola Provides Update On Erling Haaland Injury Scare

Erling Haaland was substituted at halftime during Tuesday’s match between Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund, and according to manager Pep Guardiola, he had three concerns about the striker’s health.

City’s Riyad Mahrez missed a penalty shortly before the hour mark in the Champions League match in Germany. However, the Premier League champions won group G and won’t be too upset about the scoreless draw.

Concerns were raised about their star striker, though, as Haaland was replaced by Bernardo Silva for the second half.

Is Erling Haaland Injured?

Haaland’s issue is a major concern for Guardiola, who claims the 22-year-old was battling with three different issues. “Three things: I saw him so tired,” explained the City boss.

“The second one he had a bit of a fever, like Joao [Cancelo]. The third, he had a knock in his feet.

“That is why he wasn’t able to play in the second half.’

Asked whether Haaland is likely to be sidelined, with Manchester City facing Leicester in the Premier League on Saturday, Guardiola could not confirm, but was reassured by how the forward was looking at the end of the match.

“I don’t know right now,” said the Spaniard. “They were a little bit concerned at half-time but I saw him walking OK at the end.”

At halftime, Cancelo was also replaced by Manuel Akanji after Guardiola said the full-back wasn’t feeling well.

He might also be available for Leicester, but the City staff will have to wait and see.

With a demanding schedule ahead of them before the World Cup break, Guardiola will be happy to have locked up first place in their Champions League group with one game remaining.
