Pep Guardiola is uncertain whether Sergio Aguero will play for Manchester City again this season after the striker sustained an injury in the 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough.
Aguero netted his 18th Premier League goal of the season in the fixture at the Riverside Stadium on Sunday but the Argentinian was forced to leave the fray towards the end of the match with what appeared to be a groin problem.
City have just four games left to secure themselves a Champions League spot for next season but they may now need to do so without the 28-year-old, with Guardiola admitting he is unsure about how long his side will be without the attacker.
Speaking after Sunday’s match, according to the Independent, Guardiola said: “We will see tomorrow. We will test him.”
Guardiola feels his side deserved to win against Middlesbrough – who earned a valuable point in their battle against relegation – but also confessed that he couldn’t be anything but “satisfied” with a draw after City went behind twice in the match.
He added: “I think we deserved to win – definitely. In the second half we made absolutely everything and they only cross the line twice while we created a lot chances. They created chances in the first 20 minutes.
“Today it was in our hands to get the third position. A good result is winning, but at 1-0 it was complicated so I’m satisfied.”
Aguero has been in typical brilliant form this season with his efforts seeing the striker become City’s joint second-highest goalscorer ever, having netted 167 times for the club.
A conversion rate of 19.6% isn’t overly outstanding but the Argentine has registered 128 shots in the Premier League this season, the most in the English top flight and the fourth-most in Europe’s top five leagues.
