West Ham are weighing up a move for forward Suso who is keen to leave AC Milan in the January transfer window. Suso joined Milan in January 2015 and enjoyed a productive season last year after eight goals and 10 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.
The former Liverpool man has been unable to replicate that form this term and has failed to score in eight appearances in Serie A, weighing in with just one assist.
Suso did start Stefano Pioli’s first game in charge of the Rossoneri as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Lecce at the weekend but his performance came in for criticism from both the fans and the media.
Reports in Italy indicate the 25-year-old is angling for an exit in the winter window.
Suso is understood to have a release clause of £36million in his deal at the San Siro and Milan are keen to sell.
The Italian heavyweights want to back Pioli in the January window but need to sell before they can buy, with Suso a prime candidate to be among those sacrificed.
West Ham may be able to negotiate a lower fee if they are the only club to make a move, although reports suggest they could face some competition.
Premier League rivals Wolves have been suggested as possible rivals for his signature after being tentatively linked with a move for Suso over the summer.
There could also be competition from Spain as Atletico Madrid have been linked in the past and a move back to his homeland may appeal.
Suso began his career as a youngster with Cadiz before he joined Liverpool’s academy as a youngster. His only spell in La Liga to date came during a loan stint with Almeria in the 2013-14 season.
