Hard work the key for Pulisic

Christian Pulisic insists he will continue to work hard to improve week by week and earn his place in the Chelsea starting line-up. The 21-year-old scored a sensational hat-trick in the Blues’ 4-2 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday, with the west Londoners fourth in the Premier League table.
USA international Pulisic was Chelsea’s only new face in the summer due to their transfer embargo and it took him a while to make his mark.
Manager Frank Lampard was criticised for not giving him more game time but the former England midfielder revealed his reasons after the Clarets triumph, suggesting the forward needed time to rest after his busy summer.

He was given playing time early in the campaign before being benched but now seems set for a run in the side and the man from Pennsylvania has made it clear he did not expect any favours when moving from Borussia Dortmund. “I didn’t come here expecting everything to be easy and to start every game,” he told the club’s official website. “I had to work for my spot, just like anyone does, and I am proud of the journey I have had so far.”
The USA international was not a prolific goalscorer at BVB, with just 13 in 90 Bundesliga outings but he is a provider and has the pace and skill to open up defences.
Lampard sung the youngster’s praises after his treble but Pulisic seems grounded enough to not let it go to his head and just keep doing what he does best. “I have to keep working hard in training and earn my spot,” he added. “That’s how it is at the highest level.”
The Stamford Bridge outfit are next in action on Wednesday night when they host Manchester United in round four of the Carabao Cup, with both sides expected to make many changes for the fixture.
