Harry Kane is one of the best strikers in the world – Pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has lauded Harry Kane as “one of the best strikers in the world” after he scored twice in yesterday’s 3-0 victory over Bournemouth.

Kane opened the scoring with less than a minute gone at White Hart Lane and later doubled his tally after being slide through by Dele Alli.

Christian Eriksen’s goal added further gloss to the scoreline, but it was Kane who emerged with the most credit.

Pochettino told BBC Sport: “Harry Kane is one of the best strikers in the world.

“We have hit a different period, from the beginning of the season. After the international break we will have one game every week and we will have time to prepare training and improve to do a lot of things which were impossible to do before.

“The gap that Leicester have over us and Arsenal and Manchester City, we need to reduce. They have a good advantage but we need to believe.”

Kane now has 21 Premier League goals this season and is on course to win the golden boot, having now edged ahead of Jamie Vardy in the scoring charts.

In addition to his goalscoring exploits, Kane is also adept at bringing his teammates into play, a point evidenced by the fact that he has created 35 chances in the Premier League this season.

If Tottenham – who are now five points adrift of leaders Leicester City – end up winning the Premier League titles this season then Kane will surely receive much praise, with the forward having made a significant contribution this campaign.

With Leicester performing so consistently, all Tottenham can do is win their remaining fixtures and hope that Claudio Ranieri’s side slip up.

That won’t be an easy task, however, with some extremely difficult fixtures on the horizon, such as the trip to face Liverpool, which takes place after the international break.
