England captain Harry Kane is reportedly working to calm his players after a burglary at Raheem Sterling’s London property.
Sterling was forced to miss England’s last-16 World Cup match against Senegal on Sunday after suddenly returned to the United Kingdom to calm his family after their horrible ordeal.
Concerned England fans have reportedly upped their home security while the squad is on international duty in Qatar, while Spurs striker Kane has sought to calm nerves within the dressing room, according to the Mirror.
Sterling’s partner Paige Milan and his children were not present when robbers stormed into the residence and stole a luxury watch and other high-value items from his £6m London home.
Kane is reportedly eager to fulfil his obligations as national team captain by trying to boost morale in the dressing room following Sterling’s unexpected departure.
England players were rightly worried about the safety of their own families back home, with a source describing Kane’s efforts to comfort teammates.
‘Harry takes his captain’s duties as seriously off the field as on.
‘He knows players’ families are really shaken up. It is a huge worry for the players as well.’
‘Harry knows how worried the players are,
‘He sees it as his job as skipper to keep morale and focus everyone on the France match. Kane reassured them. He wants Raheem to take as long as he needs.
