Harry Maguire is reportedly leaning towards staying at Manchester United this summer despite losing his place under Erik ten Hag.
Maguire was pushed down the pecking order by Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez for the 2022-23 season after a difficult and error-filled 2021-22 season.
Maguire’s contract at Manchester United has two years left on it with the option of an additional year, but he was expected to leave the club this summer in quest of regular minutes.
Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United have all been linked with Maguire, who is reportedly worth £10m if he leaves the Red Devils in the coming weeks.
There have also been reports that the 30-year-old may be used in a player-plus-cash deal with Chelsea for Mason Mount, however it is unclear whether the Blues would be interested in such a move.
Despite his slump at Old Trafford, Maguire is an important part of Gareth Southgate’s England setup and has been called up for this month’s Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.

However, in an unexpected turn of events, talkSPORT reports that the Red Devils captain has changed his mind and wants to continue at the club for the 2023-24 season.
Despite his place as the club’s fifth-choice centre-back, Maguire is said to be aiming to re-enter Ten Hag’s good graces, which could cause Ten Hag problems in the transfer market.
Ten Hag allegedly intended to use the proceeds from Maguire’s sale to aid Man United’s pursuit of Napoli’s Kim Min-jae, who is thought to be their top defensive target for the summer window.
