Has Emery played the Xhaka situation right?

Having confirmed Granit Xhaka has been stripped of the Arsenal captaincy, has Unai Emery played the high-profile situation right? With his Arsenal side not firing on all cylinders this season and the spotlight already on him as manager, the last thing Emery needed was a situation like the one Xhaka created.
The experienced Swiss international goaded the Gunners supporters and swore at them as he walked off the field during the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace last month.
That game took place on October 27 and it has taken up to November 5 for a decision to be confirmed on Xhaka’s position as captain.
Former Arsenal players such as Nigel Winterburn called for swift and decisive action when it came to Emery making a call on Xhaka’s future in the captain’s position.
Some suggested the player should be thrown straight back into action, while some claimed he should be given time off to allow tempers amongst supporters to cool.
Xhaka has already sat out games against Liverpool and Wolves and the 27-year-old has not travelled to Portugal for Thursday’s Europa League encounter with Vitoria Guimaraes.
But is the hiatus for Xhaka only making his eventual return, should he be given one, a much bigger story?
As the days and weeks go by the questions will not go away for Emery regarding when the midfielder will be back.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been given the armband and now that part of the puzzle is solved but the interest and speculation regarding Xhaka’s playing future will not go away, as much as Emery would clearly like it to.
Already confirmed to miss the Vitoria game on Thursday, Arsenal are back in Premier League action against Leicester City on Saturday.
With such a quick turnaround, and against a team above them in the table, the Gunners need to utilise everyone in the squad to get them through the upcoming games.
Winning matches is all fans really care about so bringing Xhaka back now in a game that Arsenal need to win seems to be more of a big deal than it would have been were he thrown straight back into the mix against Liverpool.
Will it be a return against the Foxes, or against Southampton at home in their following game?
The next game is in Leicester, so perhaps it’s better to play him first away from home?
This situation has been allowed to stew for well over a week now and the longer Emery delays a decision on Xhaka’s return, the uglier the situation could get when he does walk out on the Emirates turf again.
