After becoming the latest ex-Chelsea player to flourish after leaving, Thorgan Hazard believes that the Blues may well regret selling Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku now.
Hazard has been in superb form for Borussia Monchengladbach this season after securing a permanent move to the German club last summer.
The younger brother of Eden Hazard has become the latest player to flourish after leaving Chelsea, following the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne, who are now two of the best talents in the Premier League.
Thorgan believes that the Blues may actually regret letting the Belgian pair leave the club having seen them shine at Manchester City and Everton.
“I knew I would not stay at Chelsea when I signed for them,” Hazard told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad. “It was a great opportunity to join such a big club, but I knew I needed regular playing time to show what I could do.
“Chelsea like to buy young players and then slowly get them ready. All the young players like Kevin De Bruyne, Charly Musonda and Romelu Lukaku were shipped out on loan. You need regular playing time at that age.
“Maybe Chelsea now regret their decision not to give De Bruyne and Lukaku more chances, I don’t know.”
Lukaku had the best scoring season of his career last term as he hit 25 goals in all competitions while De Bruyne was absolutely superb in attacking midfield for Man City.
He scored seven goals and created 81 chances – the most at Man City – despite missing 13 games in the Premier League.
