Eden Hazard is only focused on helping Chelsea salvage their season and
trying to secure Champions League football despite transfer interest from
Real Madrid, according to the Belgian’s father.
Standard Sport understands Real will step up their efforts to try and sign
Hazard, who turned 25 on Thursday, following the appointment of Zinedine
Zidane at the Santiago Bernabeu, who remains a long-term admirer of the
winger.
Hazard has struggled for form this season, failing to so far replicate the
performances that saw him win the PFA Player of the Year award last term, and
has scored 0 goals in 17 Premier League appearances and 27 games in all
competitions for the champions.
But the forward’s father, Thierry Hazard, has insisted his son is fully
focused on doing well with Chelsea despite their struggles this season.
“Eden is at Chelsea and thinks only of Chelsea,” the Belgian’s father told
The Times.
“Even with Chelsea, he has ambitions yet. Win a title might be hard, but the
top three is still possible.”
Hazard is currently out injured with a groin issue, which is set to keep him
out of Guus Hiddink’s team to face Scunthorpe United in the FA Cup on Sunday.
