Barcelona’s injury problems has worsened after the club confirmed that defender Hector Bellerin suffered a calf problem in training on Tuesday.
The Blaugrana had been relatively injury-free at the start of the 2022-23 season, but Xavi has seen a number of first-team players suffer injuries over the international break.
Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo, Memphis Depay, Frenkie de Jong, and Ousmane Dembele were all injured during the international break, while Bellerin was not called up to the Spain squad.
As a result, the ex-Arsenal man stayed in Catalonia to train with other Barcelona players who were not featured for their countries, but he has now joined the ever-expanding treatment room.
Is Bellerin Injured?
According to a statement from Barcelona, Bellerin had sustained a calf injury on Tuesday morning and would undergo tests on Wednesday to determine the length of his absence.
“Hector Bellerin has reported difficulties with the soleus in his left leg during Tuesday morning’s training session. On Wednesday, the defender will undergo a series of tests to determine the full extent of the trouble,” the statement read.
The right-back returned to Camp Nou this summer after an 11-year stint with Arsenal, and he has made two La Liga outings for La Blaugrana against Cadiz and Elche.

Bellerin has been competing for the right-back position at Camp Nou alongside the likes of Araujo, Kounde, and Sergi Roberto, and Xavi has reportedly been impressed with his performances so far.
The 27-year-contract old’s at Camp Nou expires at the end of the season, but he is expected to sign an extension in January to prevent a free transfer in 2023.
While the extent of Bellerin’s injury is unknown at this time, Barcelona manager Xavi could be left with few choices at right back for his team’s forthcoming games against Mallorca and Inter Milan.
