Henderson On Verge Of Leaving Ajax For Ligue 1 Club

Jordan Henderson is reportedly close to joining Monaco following an agreement to leave Ajax after just one year.

Since leaving Liverpool in July 2023, the 34-year-old has had a somewhat nomadic life. He initially joined Al-Ettifaq of Saudi Arabia before ending his contract and headed for Amsterdam.

Despite playing frequently for Ajax this season—making 17 Eredivisie appearances and 12 more in the Europa League—the 81-cap England midfielder is expected to move on.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, an agreement has been reached to bring Henderson to Monaco for a period of 18 months, ending in June 2026.

Henderson’s current deal with Ajax also ran until the summer of 2026, although whether there will be a transfer fee or not has not been established.

Monaco are presently third in Ligue 1 and despite a 3-0 defeat to Inter Milan on Wednesday night their Champions League aspirations remain alive.

The team led by Adi Hutter will advance to the knockout round play-offs – with the draw set to take place on Friday – after finishing 17th in the Champions League group stage.

In the playoffs, Monaco will play either PSG or Benfica, with Brest on the opposing team.

Along with other well-known figures from English football, such as Folarin Balogun, Thilo Kehrer, and Denis Zakaria, the former captain of Liverpool will team up with Takumi Minamino, another former Reds player, in Monaco.
