Hertha Berlin goalkeeper Rune Jarstein has revealed it has always been his dream to play for Manchester United. Jarstein is currently the first-choice keeper at Hertha since he made the switch to the Bundesliga outfit back in 2014.
As much as the Norwegian says he enjoys playing in the German top flight, the 35-year-old has admitted he would love to feature for the Red Devils and would have no problem acting as a back-up keeper to David de Gea at Old Trafford. “I still dream about playing for Manchester United. That dream has been there for many, many years. I live in hope,” TV2 quoted him as saying.
He added: “The Bundesliga is a good league, but when you get to the biggest clubs, it’s high level. It would be nice to try and see how it would have had been. However, it’s a little too high up. “I am doing very well at Hertha Berlin, so I do not see myself playing in the Premier League.”
Jarstein, who has also played for the likes of Rosenborg and Viking in his homeland, could be hoping to follow in the footsteps of former Netherlands keeper Edwin van der Sar who did not make the move to United until he was in his mid-30s.
The Norway international’s current contract with Hertha expires in the summer of 2021 and there does not seem to be any sign his time in the German capital will be cut short.
