Hiddink: Ranieri called to thank me for Chelsea’s comeback against Tottenham

Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink revealed he received a thank you call from Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri after the Blues held Spurs to hand the Foxes a historic Premier League title.

Ranieri, who missed the match to fly out to visit his 96-year-old mother, phoned Hiddink after the full-time whistleat Stamford Bridge.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Hiddink said: “His voice was trembling a bit. I don’t know if he was crying. He said five times thanks.”

Chelsea were trailing Tottenham by two goals after first-half strikes from Harry Kane and Son Heung-min but Hiddink’s men rallied after the break.

Gary Cahill and Eden Hazard found the back of the net as tempers boiled on the pitch and Pochettino’s Spurs weren’t able to respond.

The result remarkably secured Leicester City’s first ever top division title and sparked wild celebrations across the city.
