Hiddink urges Chelsea to keep hard-working Willian following £50m bid from China

Guus Hiddink has told Chelsea not to cash in on Willian this summer and believes they should keep him at the club for years to come.

Willian is wanted by Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande, who are willing to pay £50m for the Brazil international and double his salary to £240,000-a-week.

Chelsea have already shown they are prepared to sell one of their players for profit this term to the Chinese Super League, having accepted a £25m offer from Jiangsu Suning for Ramires in January.

Willian, who joined Chelsea for £30m from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013, has been arguably the club’s most consistent performer this term.

And when asked if Chelsea should ignore all offers for the attacking midfielder, the Chelsea interim manager told Standard Sport: “I have known Willian for many years and as a person he is very down to earth and a nice guy.

“On top of that, he is doing a very good job. This year, in a difficult year (for Chelsea), he has been working very hard with his natural ability.

“When they defend and sacrifice themselves, he has the attitude to do so. That’s why he is already, and can be in the future, a key player for this club.”
