Hodgson agrees new KR deal

Hull KR assistant coach David Hodgson has penned a new one-year deal with the Craven Park outfit. Hodgson, a former Great Britain international, is set to enter his sixth year in the role with the Robins, who narrowly avoided relegation from Super League last season. He will continue to work under head coach Tony Smith, who arrived at the club in June following the sacking of Tim Sheens. The 38-year-old Hodgson says is very happy to stay with the club and believes he can learn an awful lot from Smith, who was a double Grand Final winner with Leeds Rhinos in 2004 and 2007. “I have been here a while now and to sign an extension for another year, and to be able to work under Tony and the staff that he has brought in too, is going to be great,” Hodgson told KRTV. “For me personally I am always learning from everybody at the club. It is something that I pride myself on. I hope I can carry on learning throughout my career, and I have a great opportunity now under Tony. I’m looking forward to 2020. “I worked with Tony for a couple of months at the back end of 2019 but a full pre-season will be very beneficial to both of us.”
