Former England manager Roy Hodgson has revealed he is in talks with Crystal Palace about extending his stay at Selhurst Park. Hodgson signed a two-year contract with the south London club on September 12, 2017, replacing the sacked Frank de Boer, and he guided the club to Premier League safety in his first season in charge.
The Englishman secured the Eagles’ top-flight status in the 2018/19 campaign with a 12th-place finish and they have started this season in fantastic form, winning four of their 10 matches to sit sixth in the table.
Palace, who are only a point behind Arsenal in fifth, return to action on Sunday when they play host to Leicester City, who are third in the standings and eight points adrift of leaders Liverpool.
Ahead of the game, 72-year-old Hodgson has revealed he is in talks to sign a new contract, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2020.
The Croydon-born tactician became the oldest person to manage in the Premier League on February 23 this year, at the age of 71 years and 198 days, and he is not planning to slow down any time soon.
Speaking at his press conference on Friday about his future, Hodgson said: “Steve (Parish) and I talk all the time, I suppose it’s fair to say we are in talks but I can’t give you any more than that. “I see my future certainly being here, I enjoy it very much here and have been very happy in these two years. It’s just a question of discussions with Steve and that they are as happy with me as I am to be at the club.”
Palace secured a battling point against Arsenal last time out, coming from 2-0 down to claim a share of the spoils, and victory on Sunday would move them to within a point of the Foxes.
The Eagles have lost just one of their five home league games this season – a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City – while they have won the last four meetings with Leicester.
