Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann has declined the chance to succeed Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.
The 30-year-old was reportedly seen as a strong candidate to take over from Zidane following the Frenchman’s shock resignation last Thursday.
According to German news outlet BILD, the reigning European champions approached the promising coach about the role.
Nagelsmann has since rejected their offer and will stay on as Hoffenheim boss after leading them into the Champions League this season.
Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have also kept tabs on Nagelsmann and he was also considered as a possible replacement for Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.
Nagelsmann, who has been at Hoffenheim since taking over in 2016, will guide the club in their debut Champions League season after they failed to advance past the tournament’s qualifying rounds at the hands of Liverpool last August.
When Nagelsmann took over the struggling Bundesliga side, they were 17th in the table and seven point adrift of safety.
The club avoided relegation under the German and have finished fourth and third in the following seasons during his short tenure.
Real have also ended their pursuit of Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino earlier this week.
The Spurs boss has made it clear he will not force his way out, and the European champions are not prepared to enter a long battle with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.
Germany head coach Joachim Low also ruled himself out of the running to succeed Zidane.
