Newcastle United striker, Alexander Isak has been ruled for a couple of weeks after missing the Magpies 4-4 draw against Luton Town through injury.
Eddie Howe, the head coach, gave a brief update on Isak’s injury after the striker was substituted off against Aston Villa on Tuesday.
Initially, assistant manager Jason Tindall hinted that the 24-year-old might play in Saturday’s game against Luton. It has now been stated that the player would miss two to four weeks of action.
In the end, Howe’s admission that the Swede wasn’t even close to featuring. After missing the Luton game, he may now miss the forthcoming games against Nottingham Forest and AFC Bournemouth.
“He wasn’t close,” Howe told BBC Newcastle as reported by the Shields Gazette. “We don’t think he’s got a serious injury but it might keep him out for a couple of games but hopefully we can get him back pretty quickly.”
The Magpies manager then appeared to take a backseat in his remarks. Saying he wasn’t sure when the forward would return, which raised more questions about Isak’s injury status.

“Alex has got a slight groin injury,” Howe said. “We don’t think it’s too serious, and we’re hoping he’ll be back pretty soon, but when that is, I’m not sure.”
Isak scored twice, including a stoppage-time penalty, in Newcastle’s 2-1 victory at the City Ground against Nottingham Forest on their previous visit last season. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side would benefit greatly from his absence.
