Huge Amorim Claim Surface With Pochettino ‘Likely To Leave’ Chelsea

Sporting Lisbon boss, Ruben Amorim’s flight to London was paid for by Chelsea and not West Ham United. Thereby, throwing fresh doubt over the future of Mauricio Pochettino at the west London club.

The 39-year-old has been in high demand lately. After Xabi Alonso rejected Liverpool’s advances and vowed to stay at Bayer Leverkusen, the Sporting CP coach was first set as the favorite to succeed Jurgen Klopp.

After traveling to meet with West Ham officials last week, the Reds reportedly lost interest in the former midfield player. As a result, the Merseyside outfit are closing in on Feyenoord manager Arne Slot.

After meeting with the Hammers, Amorim later expressed regret to Sporting’s supporters and players. Especially since the Portuguese strongholds are about to win Liga Portugal.

However, the issue has not been resolved. A report from TEAMtalk claims Amorim, who Chelsea have long been interested in, could succeed Pochettino, whose team will end the season without a trophy and will still be outsiders to make it to Europe the following season.

Furthermore, pressure is building on the former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain manager to stay in his position after he spent close to £450 million on transfers last summer. With only a few of which have proven successful thus far.

According to journalist Pedro Sepulveda, Chelsea, not West Ham, actually covered the cost of Amorim’s flight to London on April 22.

Sepulveda also revealed that Pochettino will “probably” leave Chelsea this summer. That the rumour the Hammers foot Amorim’s trip expenses is “fake,” and that the Sporting manager met with members of the Blues’ board.
