Jack Hughes will replace Ryan Hall in the Great Britain line up as they face New Zealand for the second Test on Saturday. Sydney Roosters winger Hall, a former Grand Final and Challenge Cup winner with Leeds Rhinos, suffered a dislocated knee in Auckland and will miss the remainder of the Lions’ tour of New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. Wigan centre Oliver Gildart failed to recover sufficiently from the dislocated shoulder he suffered tow week ago against Tonga and will return home, meaning Warrington’s Hughes will be shoehorned into centre. The 27-year-old usually plays at second-row but has played centre before and will fill in there when they head to Christchurch, with Zak Hardaker being moved out to the wing. Hughes, however, says he is happy to play at centre in order to help out Wayne Bennett’s team. “It’s always about the team first,” Hughes told the RFL website. “Obviously, a couple of injuries have tested the depth of the squad and Wayne’s asked me to jump in at centre and do a job and do it justice. “It doesn’t phase me. Back in my Wigan days, I played there. You’re under a bit more stress and a bit more pressure in terms of decision making, but it’s nothing I can’t handle.” In better news for the Lions, St Helens prop Luke Thompson returns to the squad after picking up a rib injury against Tonga.
