‘I Made My Final Decision’ To Leave Milan – Incredible Midfielder Reveals

Newcastle United midfielder, Sandro Tonali has revealed that the decision to leave AC Milan was only down to him.

The Italy international made this revelation as the Magpies traveled to Italy for their first UEFA Champions League match against Milan at the San Siro on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old switched from his childhood club to Newcastle over the summer for a record-breaking £52 million transfer.

In a report from The Shields Gazette, Tonali stated when he got back to Milan: “This is the team I support first of all and this is the team that gave me the chance for my dreams to come true.

“Now I return as a rival player to AC Milan.”

There was a lot of talk about Tonali refusing to depart the Rossoneri after the player moved to Newcastle.

But the midfielder acknowledged that he made the decision to go on his own.

“It’s very difficult for a player to ask for a transfer to a specific team,” he admitted.

“A player is kind of limited in his willing to do what he wants, it’s difficult for a player to decide where you go, whether it’s Real Madrid or Barcelona or wherever.

“From the moment I received this offer [from Newcastle] I was happy because I did my best with AC Milan and I have worked with people who love me and will still love me.

“I talked about it thoroughly and made my final decision.”

Supporting Tonali’s claims, his representative, Giuseppe Riso also refutes rumors that the Italian was overcome with emotion as he left Milan.
