I Was Forced To Accept Arsenal Move – Calafiori

New Arsenal signing, Riccardo Calafiori has opened up on his chat with fellow countryman, Jorginho over a switch to the Emirates.

With a stunning £42 million transfer from Bologna to Arsenal, the 22-year-old has secured the number 33 jersey ahead of the 2024–25 Premier League season.

Calafiori, who performed well for his nation at Euro 2024, was benched as a result of a ban which made him missed the Azzurri’s elimination in the hands of Switzerland.

Just prior to the former Roma player’s debut on the international scene, Jorginho spoke with Calafiori. The Italian explained to the club’s media team how Jorginho convinced him to sign with the Gunners.

“I just met [Jorginho] one month ago, but I can see that he’s a really good guy,” Calafiori gushed. “I was already convinced but he forced me,” reports The Mirror.

“He said: ‘Come, come, come! You will enjoy being here, the team is amazing and the staff, everything is good.’ You can see that already from the first few minutes here.”

Dreaming big about his move, he added: “It’s actually been my dream since I was 12 or 13 years old, because I can see the level of the league here and the best players in the world, for me, play here. It’s a dream and not only for me, but for everybody.”
