MLS vice-president of communications Dan Courtemanche has denied reports LA Galaxy striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has agreed a move back to AC Milan. Widespread reports this week have suggested Ibrahimovic has an agreement in place to return to the Italian giants in January when his contract with the Galaxy expires next month.
The Swedish star played for Milan between 2010 and 2012 and has hinted he has a big move lined up for 2020 with a return to the San Siro certainly on the cards.
MLS commissioner Don Garber fuelled the speculation when he suggested in an interview with ESPN that Ibrahimovic was being “recruited” by Milan but now Courtemanche has attempted to clarify the situation and described the reports as “erroneous”.
He wrote on Twitter: “Despite many erroneous reports, MLS Commissioner Don Garber did not state that AC Milan was signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic.”
It was thought when Ibrahimovic moved to the MLS in 2018 after nearly two years with Manchester United it would be his final transfer but so good has the veteran been in the US that top European clubs still believe he can do a job for them.
He is now 38 but his record of 53 goals in 58 games for the Galaxy backs up the assertion he remains in good shape and it would be no surprise to see him back at Milan in the new year.
Ibrahimovic scored 56 goals in 86 games for the Rossoneri during his two-year spell and has also been linked with Bologa and Napoli in Italy, while several other clubs from England, Spain and Germany are also thought to be in the running to land him on a short-term deal.
