Ibrahimovic agrees to return to Paris Saint-Germain as coach after retiring

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has agreed to return to Paris Saint-Germain as a coach once he concludes his playing career.

Ibrahimovic will leave PSG when his contract expires at the end of June, but the forward is determined to return to the club at some point.

The Sweden international’s next club is unknown but it is understood he would be keen to follow Jose Mourinho should he be made Manchester United manager this summer while recent reports link the striker with MLS side LA Galaxy.

PSG released a statement that read: “Following discussions between Paris Saint-Germain and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s agent, the club and its player have mutually decided not to renew the contract that links both parties until June 30, 2016.

“They also agreed that once the player ends his active football career he would come back to the club in a managerial capacity.

“Paris Saint-Germain is forever deeply grateful to Zlatan for his amazing four years that made him the greatest striker and one of the very best player in the club’s history. Ibra has widely contributed to help transform Paris Saint-Germain into one of the biggest clubs in Europe.”

Ibrahimovic, who has scored 46 goals in 49 games across all competitions this season, will play his final home game as a PSG player on Saturday when his side take on Nantes before officially concluding his spell at the club after the Coupe De France final against Marseille.

It is not currently clear where Ibrahimovic will be playing next season, with the forward having been linked to several sides, including clubs in MLS.

Although he is 34, Ibrahimovic remains one of the standout strikers in European football having scored 36 goals in 30 league appearances and and would surely be able to make an impact in a major league.

Ibrahimovic has enjoyed much success in various countries, but it would be especially intriguing to see him play in the Premier League, with United among the clubs that have been tipped as potential suitors.

Given his power and finishing ability, whichever club eventually ends up signing Ibrahimovic will no doubt see their chances of success boosted as a consequence.
