I’d rather have Neymar over Messi at PSG – Lucas Moura

Lucas Moura has revealed that he would prefer to see Neymar join Paris Saint-Germain rather than five-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi.

Both world-beating stars are currently enjoying a fine time of things at Barcelona, where they won five domestic trophies last season as both players were rewarded for their 2015 form with a place in the final three nominees for the prestigious Ballon D’or award.

It is highly unlikely that either will leave the Nou Camp anytime soon but if anyone could tempt players of such calibre it would be Lucas’ PSG, who recently wrapped up a fourth successive Ligue 1 title and are renowned for the astronomical wages they can offer to players.

And Lucas has revealed that if he was given the option to bring any footballer across the globe to Paris, he would opt to sign Brazil compatriot Neymar, even though they both play in the same position.

“Having Messi at Paris? Yes, why not. Or a [Karim] Benzema or Lewandowski,” he told Canal+.

“But I prefer Neymar. It would be good for me and for the club, even if he plays in the same position as me.”

Neymar has been in imperious form in 2015/16, netting 21 goals in 26 La Liga outings and hitting double figures in terms of assists, with no Barca player creating more chances than the 24-year-old.

He has swiftly cemented his status as one of the world’s biggest stars since joining the Catalans’ ranks from Santos back in 2013 with a reputation as a bit of a trickster.

Only time will tell what the future holds but it would take a staggering transfer fee for the Paris-based outfit to acquire his signature, meaning Lucas’ dream of turning out alongside Neymar at the Parc des Princes will have to be put on hold.

The French champions are on course to claim back-to-back domestic trebles this season, having already sealed a fourth successive Ligue 1 title, but Lucas said their eyes are on Champions League success.

“It is very nice to have won four consecutive league titles. And there is eight games left to play,” the Brazilian added.

“We have time to prepare for the Champions League, which is our sweetest dream.”

Lucas was linked with a move away from PSG previously, but the 23-year-old said his intention is to spend the rest of his playing days in Paris.

“My dream is to spend my whole career in PSG,” he said. “I want to win many titles, and later go back to Sao Paulo.”
