Andres Iniesta has become the most decorated player in Spanish football history after Barcelona‘s latest La Liga title win took his tally to 29 trophies.
Iniesta’s latest triumph sees him overtake his former team-mate Xavi and he could make it 30 next week when Barcelona face Sevilla in the final of the Copa del Rey.
The midfielder also took over as the team’s captain this season and has a passing accuracy of 88%, registering two assists, in Luis Enrique’s midfield triumvirate alongside Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets.
At one stage Barcelona were 12 points clear at the top of the table and the title seemed like it was destined to go back to the Catalan side.
However inconsistent results, combined with a remarkable run of 12 wins for Real Madrid, saw Zinedine Zidane’s close the gap between the two sides and draw level.
On the final day of the season Real took the lead in their game against Deportivo La Coruna but Barcelona didn’t falter and they kept their cool to win 3-0 and seal the title.
It makes it three titles in four years for Barcelona and they could win back to back domestic doubles should they beat Sevilla.
