Inter chief Marotta confirms Arsenal target Eriksen on transfer-list

Christian Eriksen’s time at Inter Milan looks to be up less than 12 months after arriving as chief executive Giuseppe Marotta confirmed the Dane is up for sale.

Marotta spoke to Sky Sports about the season so far and Inter’s plans for next month’s January transfer window when he gave the clearest indication yet that Eriksen has no future in Milan.

‘We’ve been very clear many times that there are players on the so-called transfer list, these are players who want to play more regularly, and the club is ready to make them happy and find replacements,’ he said.

‘Eriksen is on the transfer list, Piero Ausilio confirmed as much. He has struggled to settle into the squad, he is not functional to the squad.’

Eriksen was desperate to leave Tottenham back in January and was granted his wish when Inter, then in desperate pursuit of Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus, parted with cash to get him six months before he was due to be a free agent.

The 28-year-old departed White Hart Lane for a cut price £25million move.

But the playmaker has soon fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte, scoring four goals and creating just three goals in his 38 appearances across 2020 and it appears his future is away from the San Siro.

According to Gazzetta dello sport, via Sport Witness, Arsenal are ‘looking at’ addressing their creativity issue by bringing in Eriksen next month.

The report suggests Inter want to offload Eriksen to a Premier League club on loan, most likely Arsenal, as they don’t expect much interest in a permanent switch given the Dane’s reputation after such a poor year.

Eriksen is yet to complete 90 minutes this season for Inter across 12 games in all competitions, and has not scored a goal or created an assist for the club during that period.
