Inter lining up January swoop for Spurs star

Inter Milan are showing an interest in Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen with a view to making an offer in the January transfer window. The defender is due to fall out of contract at the end of the season and so far there is no sign of him penning a new one, meaning he could leave on a free transfer.
The 32-year-old will be free to talk to clubs in January with a view to lining up a free transfer move at the end of the season and reports claim he is weighing up his options.
One of those options is said to be Inter, who could attempt to get him tied down to a pre-contract agreement in the new year.
Inter boss Antonio Conte knows all about the Belgium international following his time in the English Premier League with Chelsea and is said to be a big admirer.
Tottenham have not ruled out the possibility of trying to keep hold of the player and are ready to offer him a new deal in the hope he will sign it.
However Inter could offer him a lucrative three-year deal on much better terms and Vertonghen would find it difficult to turn down if the approach was made.
The Nerazzurri were keen to do a deal last summer, but were put off by Tottenham’s large asking price so decided to wait in the hope he would run his contract down and become available on a free.
Vertonghen has been with Spurs since 2012, but his time at the club now looks to be up.
