Former Inter President Massimo Moratti believes one of the reasons the Nerazzurri landed Geoffrey Kondogbia from Monaco was to stop a move to rivals AC Milan.
Having signed the Frenchman for €31 million from the Ligue 1 side, the 70-year-old remains confident he will continue to improve after an inconsistent first year in Italy.
However Moratti admits part of the reason he was brought in was to prevent the Rossoneri from making a big splash in the transfer window.
“At the time Kondogbia’s signing had a lot of significance, including that of keeping him away from Milan,” he told FC Inter News.
“He was part of an important deal and the hope is that with time, given his young age, he can show his worth.
“You can see he has talent, but he just has to accumulate some more experience.”
The French international has appeared 25 times in all competitions for the Nerazzurri this campaign, registering just one goal against Torino in Serie A.
