Lazio are reportedly in talks with Manchester United to sign star forward Mason Greenwood before the end of the summer transfer window.
The Italian outfit are committed to closing the deal. Although other European clubs are still interested. Olympiacos have also looked into a transfer. And when United declared him available, Besiktas have considered a potential loan deal.
Greenwood will have the ultimate say, but there isn’t much time left to reach an agreement. The Red Devils confirmed that they will assist the forward in making a transfer away from the club this summer after an internal inquiry was completed. And the striker is expected to depart Old Trafford.
An official statement from United said: “All those involved, including Mason, recognise the difficulties with him recommencing his career at Manchester United.
“It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford. And we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.”
According to The Mirror, Lazio were first given the opportunity to acquire the one-cap England international before the end of the transfer window.
He is willing to move to the Stadio Olimpico and was rumored to be available on a free transfer from the Red Devils. But a loan switch now seems more likely. Maurizio Sarri, the former manager of Chelsea, will now make the choice.
