Diogo Jota acknowledges that, personally, his injury-plagued Liverpool season has been “very hard.”
The Portugal international missed a significant amount of games until early September. As a consequence of a hamstring injury he sustained in July while on the club’s preseason tour of Thailand and Singapore.
Jota needed extensive rehabilitation. This is as a result of a severe calf injury he sustained in the final minutes of the 1-0 victory over Manchester City on October 16. He missed four months of action as a result.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers player has made just eight starts in all competitions due to the two issues. With his most recent appearance coming in Saturday’s embarrassing 4-1 loss to Man City at the Etihad Stadium.
What Did Jota Say About His Season At Liverpool?
Jota, who has now gone a full year without scoring for Liverpool, believes that the lack of rhythm has been difficult to handle. He said: “[This season is] not easy. It’s been very hard, to be honest, this season personally.
“I wanted to give it a proper go and I was injured at the start of the season, then I came back and got injured again.

“And now at the last stage of the season when the team is already not fighting for anything [in terms of trophies], to find the momentum and find the rhythm even for myself [is difficult], but it’s a bit like the team at the moment.
“We need to fight to try to do the best possible we can this season, because there’s still 11 games to go and we need to give proper energy and be ready for next season, because we need to qualify for something, and Champions League is still possible – it would be massive if we could do that.
“Like I said, finding the rhythm at this stage of the season is not easy but I always try to be at my best to help the team,” he told Liverpool Echo.
