Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola had the perfect response on Friday to those who have criticised his style of play this week.
The 45-year-old is no stranger to success and it seemed almost impossible that City would not reap the dividends of hiring them this season after a fantastic start to the campaign.
However, City have now gone four games without a win and Wednesday’s thrashing at Barcelona was self-inflicted for the large part.
Guardiola is renowned for his ‘tiki-taka’ style and his tendency to encourage his players to pass the ball out from the back, which cost the Citizens on his return to the Nou Camp.
And when he was questioned on Friday at his press conference about whether his methods work, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss had a great reply.
“I’ve won 21 trophies in 7 years,” Guardiola told reporters at his press conference. “Sorry, guys.”
Guardiola has had a managerial career to remember and it has come in the space of just eight years, after first beginning first-team management in 2008 with Barcelona.
