Arsenal starlet Alex Iwobi has been sharing the story of the time when a ‘fan’ followed him home from the Emirates Stadium after a game.
The 20-year-old has started the season just as he finished the last and he looks to be strengthening his place in the Gunners first-team.
The Nigeria international was talking to the club’s weekly podcast about the ‘terrifying time’ he was followed in his car following their last league game at home which was the 3-0 win over Chelsea.
He said: “I remember the last home game we played. For 15 minutes there was one fan following me and I was getting a bit scared.
“I was getting close to my destination. I was thinking, I’m going to have to do a detour before I get to my destination before he ends up finding where I’m going. That was a bit mad.”
Thankfully the player is safe and well enough to score his first goal for the Super Eagles alongside fellow Premier League star Kelechi Iheanacho of Manchester City, who also got on the scoresheet against Zambia.
Although he had represented England at age-group level, it was no surprise to see him commit his future to Nigeria given what his uncle, Jay-Jay Okocha did for the national team.
Okocka also played for Bolton Wanderers under Sam Allardyce, where fans still remember him fondly.
