Arsenal starlet Alex Iwobi has revealed the squad have done work on the mental side of their game as they hope to continue their superb recent run of form.
The Nigerian forward came off the bench for the Gunners as they strolled to a 6-0 win over Ludogorets Razgrad in the Champions League on Wednesday night, in a result that has got people taking the club’s credentials more seriously this season.
However, Arsenal are known for starting well and collapsing when it matters, so Iwobi has stressed the importance of working to avoid that happening again this term.
‘We’re not trying to get ahead of ourselves, we’re taking each game as it comes,’ he said after the game.
‘It’s basically our mental side that we were working on. We’ve still added that to our game and we believed if we’re mentally prepared in ourselves for this game that we would do well in November and it won’t be such a tough time, hopefully.’
Arsenal’s depth also looks better than most years, with Arsene Wenger able to make a few changes to the team that won so comfortably last night, and Iwobi hailed the quality of the side’s squad players who came in.
‘There’s a lot of talent in this team, and whenever I’m given a chance I’m just giving my best, giving 100 per cent,’ he said.
