Jack Grealish kept his promise to a young fan who has cerebral palsy after he marked his first World Cup goal with a special celebration.
Grealish recently met Manchester City fan Finlay, 11, after he wrote to him to express his admiration for the way he cared for his cerebral palsy sister.
Finlay also has cerebral palsy and said Grealish was his “hero”.
“I wish there were more people in the world just like you who treat people with disabilities the same as anyone else,” he wrote.
The Manchester City attacker pleasantly surprised Finlay by meeting him in person and letting him choose his next goal celebration.
Finlay said he would like to watch Grealish do the ‘worm’, but changed his mind after the Manchester City playmaker joked that he might hurt himself.
Grealish did not score in City’s final matches before the World Cup break, but when he scored at the end of England’s 6-2 World Cup victory against Iran in Qatar, he turned to the cameras and fulfilled his promise.
As his teammates returned to their own half, he turned and waved his arms, a celebration that followers on Twitter soon recognized.

Grealish also replied to Finlay’s letter and sent him a signed Manchester City shirt.

In his letter to Grealish, Finlay said: “It makes me really happy when I see that you, a famous footballer, knows what it’s like to live with people with cerebral palsy.
“You’re my hero and the best big brother to your sister.”
Grealish and Manchester City teammate Phil Foden both came on as late substitutes in the win over Iran.
He scored the sixth goal after being set up by Callum Wilson.
England’s next Group B match is against USA on Friday, November 25.
