Reece James says Chelsea have to “give it our all” to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League. Chelsea fought back from 4-1 down to claim an incredible 4-4 draw with Ajax at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
James grabbed the equaliser with 16 minutes remaining after the Dutch outfit had been reduced to nine men, with Daley Blind and Joel Veltman both sent off for the visitors.
The Blues thought they’d picked up a famous win when Cesar Azpilicueta put the ball in the back of the net but his effort was ruled out after a VAR check.
The result leaves Group H finely poised with two games remaining as Ajax, Chelsea and third-placed Valencia all have seven points on the board, with French outfit Lille bottom of the standings with one point.
Chelsea head to the Mestalla to face Valencia in their next Champions League fixture and complete the group stage with a home game against Lille.
James feels they will have to be at their best to reach the next round of Europe’s top competition. “There’s no easy games in this group and we are going to have to give it our all in the next two games,” he said.
Chelsea will turn their attention back to the Premier League on Saturday and punters may wish to use their free bet to back Frank Lampard’s side to pick up all three points against Crystal Palace in the early kick-off.
The Stamford Bridge outfit have eight wins in their last 10 games, while the Eagles make the trip across London seeking to end a three-game winless run.
