According to News and Star, James Trafford, a young goalkeeper from Cumbria, received high praise from Vincent Kompany following his outstanding performance for Burnley against Brighton & Hove Albion.
In the 1-1 draw, the Burnley No. 1 from Greysouthen put on an incredible show to hold off the home team.
With ten saves in a defiant performance, 21-year-old Trafford shone.
Both his manager and the supporters praised the England Under-21 goalkeeper for it.
Regarding Trafford’s last-minute saves, Kompany stated, “The game demanded it.” Without times like these, you can’t visit these locations and expect a certain outcome.
“It’s in the bank for him [Trafford], in terms of having come through this.
“He needs to keep working on becoming the best he can be. We’re very fortunate to have two very good goalkeepers.
“His season has been no different to everyone else in the team. He’s improved throughout the season, shown good signs. He’s been more and more consistent and ultimately at this level consistency is the key word.
“The number of players who consistently deliver strong play is increasing. Without a standout performance, you never see results in games like this one.
In his post-match remarks, Trafford downplayed his heroics.
He said through Burnley’s official channels, “That’s my job – when the defence gets broken, I’m the last line of defence, my job is to save shots and that’s what I tried to do.”
Despite having a difficult start to his Premier League career with the newly promoted Clarets, Trafford’s performance on the south coast was his best to date.

The talented goalkeeper’s next matchup is against Everton, where fellow Cumbrian sensation Jarrad Branthwaite is still making waves.
The Wigton native and former Carlisle United defender put on another impressive performance as Everton easily defeated Chelsea 3-0 at Goodison Park.
Because of Branthwaite’s performance, there have been repeated calls for an England call-up. Micah Richards of the BBC is the most recent commentator to support the 21-year-old’s claims.
Richards described him as “absolutely outstanding.” “If he carries this on, he’s going to the very top.”
However, Branthwaite’s fifth booking of the season against Chelsea will result in a one-match suspension, meaning Trafford and Branthwaite will not be able to play against each other on the field next Saturday.
