Javier Tebas Threatens To Suspend La Liga League Matches Over New Laws

Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, has called for a football-related protest by all of the Spanish teams in opposition to Spain’s new proposed regulations.

The Spanish government is reportedly planning to approve a new sports law that may legalize the European Super League and ruin the integrity of domestic competitions, according to a report from COPE.

Several first and second division teams have already been invited by the president to a meeting at the Extraordinary Assembly on October 27.

Spanish football may have a brief lockout the following day. There is already a growing sense of unease across the nation about these new sports legislation, and it is widely believed that many club viewpoints are not being taken into account.

These clubs believe that the only president with true influence is Real Madrid’s mastermind, Florentino Perez.

Many individuals even believe Perez is responsible for putting together these new regulations to hasten the arrival of the European Super League.

This occurs shortly after Bernard Reichart was named the new president by the ESL committee.

Reichart further acknowledged the substantial involvement of Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus presidents in ushering in the ESL by the 2024/25 season.

However, they are set to face fierce opposition from a host of Spanish clubs, led by La Liga president Tebas, who has been at odds with the presidents of Real Madrid and Barcelona in the recent past.

The Delegate Committee of La Liga, which includes Atletico Madrid but not Barcelona and Real Madrid, had already met earlier this week.

Their plans to stage a strike later this month remain a stark possibility if the Spanish government fails to repeat the new laws.
