Jean Lucas happy with Lyon competition

Lyon midfielder Jean Lucas is convinced his chances will come after he missed the draw with Dijon at the weekend. The Brazilian, an €8million summer recruit from Flamengo, has managed six Ligue 1 appearances and one in the Champions League for Les Gones this season.
Lucas was left out of the squad on Saturday as Lyon played out a 0-0 draw with Les Moutardes in Rudi Garcia’s first match in charge.
The 21-year-old remains unconcerned at missing out against Dijon however, and he is confident more chances will come his way in the coming weeks “There is competition at each position,” he told Lyon Capitale. “In my life, nothing was easy. I always had to win my place. I never let myself down. “There are some great players here, and that’s good. I will continue to work and put it back in the hands of God. It will come.”
The draw with Dijon leaves Lyon in 17th spot in the French top flight and they are only outside of the relegation places thanks to a superior goal difference.
Lyon have enjoyed a more productive campaign in Europe with four points from a possible six in Champions League Group G, level with leaders Zenit St Petersburg.
Les Gones make the trip to Portugal to face Benfica on Wednesday and Lucas will be hoping Garcia calls on him after he sat out the draw with Dijon.
