Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, has stated that they both prioritize remaining with Chelsea after his contract at Stamford Bridge expires.
The 30-year-contract old’s with the Blues expires at the end of the current campaign, and Barcelona are reportedly keeping tabs on his status in preparation for a potential free transfer next summer.
Jorginho has started four of Graham Potter’s five matches in charge of Chelsea so far and looks to be a big part of the new head coach’s plans at Stamford Bridge.
However, with Barcelona sniffing around the Italian, it could be one Chelsea, and the player, look to get sorted as soon as possible.
In a recent interview with Tuttomercatoweb, Santos gave a significant hint about the midfielder’s future by claiming that negotiations for a contract extension with Chelsea had already begun.
“We are due in June,” Santos said on Jorginho’s current contract with Chelsea.
“We prioritise Chelsea and we are moving towards it. Another priority for Jorginho is to do well with the national team.”
Santos was then asked about being spotted in Barcelona. The Catalan club have been strongly linked with the Chelsea midfielder in recent weeks, so his presence in the city was bound to raise a few questions.
