Jose Mourinho Spotted Awkwardly Embracing Anderlecht Steward During Fenerbahce’s Chaotic Europa League Clash In Belgium

The second leg of the UEFA Europa League between Anderlecht and Fenerbahce was suspended for 15 minutes on Thursday owing to fighting in the fans, but Jose Mourinho and one steward in Belgium were all smiles.

Mourinho’s Fenerbahce won the first leg 3-0 in Turkey seven days earlier, and Youssef En-Nesyri scored after only four minutes in Belgium to put them up 4-0 on aggregate.

However, the match was delayed shortly after that goal due to nasty situations among fans.

Riot police raced into the stands to cope with the situation, and stewards did their part after warnings were flashed on the stadium’s big screen imploring supporters to behave themselves.

When Referee Sandro Schaerer decided to pause the game and send the players back to their dressing rooms, he directed both sets of players to the center of the pitch.

Fortunately, after a 15-minute pause, the players were able to resume the game.

There were no more goals before halftime, and the most memorable moment occurred on the sidelines.

Cameras saw Fenerbahce manager Mourinho gently putting his arm around the shoulder of a considerably shorter steward, who smiled briefly before appearing uneasy.

The incident was shown live on TNT Sports 3, and the commentator said, ‘Jose’s made a buddy!’

Thursday’s game concluded 2-2, with goals from Vazquez and Yusuf Akcicek in the second half.

Fenerbahce advanced to the round of 16 with a 5-2 win on aggregate.

Mourinho’s players will face Rangers or Olympiacos next.
