Liverpool forward, Diogo Jota has reportedly admitted to his injury history as he became the latest member to join up Arne Slot’s squad for their USA pre-season tour.
He has already admitted his fitness for tonight’s friendly against Real Betis after meeting with his colleagues in Pittsburgh.
Jota had to make do with a very supporting role for Portugal in Euro 2024, largely due to Cristiano Ronaldo’s robust presence. Given his history of injuries, Liverpool may have been quietly pleased. The team’s elimination from the quarterfinals must have raised eyebrows across the nation.
Anyway, Jota will undoubtedly play a bigger role in Slot’s plans now that he has returned from his break. He was by far the team’s most clinical finisher last season, so keeping him fit would be extremely beneficial.
On that front, Jota has already made a related—and totally expected—admittance. When he arrived yesterday evening, he spoke briefly with Liverpoolfc.
“It’s great to be back with the team, I just landed in Pittsburgh,” he said. “Now I’ll get some rest and get ready to start working tomorrow.
