Julian Nagelsmann ‘Has Key Demands for Tottenham Manager Job’

Julian Nagelsmann is reportedly demanding a key role in transfer dealings if he is to take the Tottenham job.

Spurs have been linked to a slew of potential replacements since Antonio Conte was sacked as manager at the end of March.

Feyenoord’s Arne Slot, Burnley’s Vincent Kompany, and former Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers are among the names linked with a move to North London.

However, following his departure from Bayern Munich, it has been widely speculated that Nagelsmann’s next step could be the Premier League, with Chelsea initially appearing to be the most likely.

That idea was altered on Friday, when Nagelsmann was ruled out of contention for the position at Stamford Bridge, giving Spurs a free hand to try to entice the German to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That was before Spurs conceded five goals in the first 21 minutes of their Premier League match against Newcastle United, which they lost 6-1.

Spurs replaced Cristian Stellini on Monday after falling six points behind in the race for Champions League qualifying, reinstalling previous caretaker incumbent Ryan Mason.

Off the pitch, though, the focus remains on finding a permanent replacement for Conte, and it appears that Nagelsmann has revealed his preferences if he is to replace the Italian.

According to The Independent, Nagelsmann wants the last say on any transfers at the club.

The general consensus is that Tottenham could go through another rebuilding phase this summer, especially if Harry Kane’s long-term contract with the club expires.

Conte was charged with working with some of the club’s own signings rather than his own during the previous regime, with the acquisition of Djed Spence being a notable example.
