Jurgen Klopp Future Has Become Clearer Following An Update On Christian Falk

Germany supporters might have to wait until after this summer’s European Championship before Jurgen Klopp takes over the national team.

The German tactician will take a break from football when his current season comes to an end at Liverpool.

Caught Offside narrates Sandro Wagner, Julian Nagelsmann’s assistant, could serve as the interim manager until the 56-year-old becomes available, according to Christian Falk. That is, naturally, if the DFB decides to sever ties with the former.

“Coach Edin Terzic (41) also has to fear for his job. Julian Nagelsmann is considered the candidate to succeed him. He is currently the German national coach. And this is where Jürgen Klopp comes into play,”  The BILD Group’s head of football revealed in his special Fact Files column with CaughtOffside.

“The farewell to Klopp naturally makes Reds fans sad, but in Germany it increases hope for Klopp to take over the national team.

“There is still no decision as to whether Julian Nagelsmann and the DFB will continue their cooperation beyond the European Championship.

“Klopp would be the wish of almost all Germans. But since he wants to take a year off, there is now a new consideration in the association. Sandro Wagner, Nagelsmann’s current assistant, could bridge the year as an interim solution until Klopp takes over.

“There would still be a year until the 2026 World Cup. And Nagelsmann could return to club football. In addition to Dortmund, FC Barcelona is also said to be interested in Nagelsmann.”

At first, it was planned for the Reds manager to stay at Anfield through the summer of 2026.

A New Manager Follows After The Sporting Director Role

It is currently believed that the Merseysiders are in the process of shortlisting potential sporting directors.

Two candidates who are based in the Premier League and are reportedly catching the attention are Richard Hughes and Tim Steidten. Similarly, there’s no shortage of rumors connecting Liverpool to Michael Edwards, their former head of transfers.

However, the title-chasers won’t begin their managerial pursuit until they have filled this important position and come to an amicable agreement to sever ties with Jorg Schmadtke.
